threshold: a new year’s retreat

Playa Coyote, Costa Rica | December 28th, 2026-January 2nd, 2027

At the edge of the year, we pause. Between what has been and what has yet to take form. Between the calendar turning and the earth beginning again. Between release and emergence. There is a particular kind of wisdom available in this space. Winter does not ask us to bloom. It reminds us of the unseen work of becoming - the roots gathering strength beneath the surface, the quiet rearranging, the fertile pause before something is ready to be named.

THRESHOLD is an immersive New Year’s retreat devoted to this liminal space. Rather than rushing toward resolutions or asking who we need to become next, we gather on the beaches of Costa Rica to listen more closely to what is already moving within us. For six days, we’ll create space to be moved, nourished, cared for, expressed, and restored. Hosted by Sonali Krish and Kiana Ochoa, Threshold brings together movement, somatics, sound, music, creative practice, ritual, rest, nourishment, and celebration. This is an experience meant to be felt.

Mornings may begin slowly with meditation, somatic practice, or movement. Days open into reflection, creative exploration, ocean, rest, nourishing meals, and spaciousness. Evenings move through sound healing, immersive soundscapes, live instrumentation, ritual, restorative practice, and live DJ sets - allowing music and movement to become their own languages of integration.

Throughout the retreat, we’ll explore:

  • the liminal space between the calendar New Year and the emergence of spring

  • movement and somatic practices that bring us back into relationship with the body

  • sound healing, live instruments, and immersive soundscapes as spaces for listening and integration

  • dance, rhythm, and live DJ experiences that invite expression, play, and aliveness

  • creative practices that give shape to what cannot always be reached through words

  • ritual and reflection to honor what has ended, what has sustained us, and what we are carrying forward

  • nervous system nourishment through rest, nature, food, slowness, and being cared for

  • vision and intention that emerge from presence rather than pressure

There will be space to move and space to be still. Space to create and space to receive. Space to dance, listen, eat well, laugh, rest, swim, gather, and disappear into your own quiet for a while. We are not gathering to manufacture a new self because the calendar changed.

We are gathering at the threshold—to honor the person who arrived here, tend to what is still becoming, and make room for the next season to reveal itself in its own time.

No prior experience with yoga, meditation, somatics, or movement is required.

Come exactly as you are. The threshold asks only that you arrive.

Our Team

Sonali Krish

Somatic Practitioner | Retreat Host | Yoga Teacher | Sound Healing Practitioner | Founder of Sona Shala

Sonali Krish is the founder of Sona Shala, a golden sanctuary for embodied wellness devoted to helping people reconnect with themselves through nature, movement, ritual, sound, and community. Sonali weaves together somatic psychology, mindfulness, nervous system education, and ancient wisdom traditions to create experiences that are both grounding and transformative.

As the daughter of Indian immigrants, Sonali's work is deeply inspired by the intersection of culture, spirituality, and the universal human longing to belong. Her retreats invite participants to slow down, reconnect with the rhythms of nature, and remember the innate wisdom already living within them.

Known for her warm, intuitive presence, Sonali creates spaces where people can soften, breathe, laugh, reflect, and be witnessed in community. Through yoga, meditation, sound healing, somatic practices, creative exploration, and meaningful conversation, she guides others in returning home—not to a place, but to themselves.

Whether gathered beneath the Costa Rican jungle canopy, beside the ocean, or in circle with one another, her intention remains the same: to cultivate experiences that leave people feeling more connected to themselves, to one another, and to the natural world.

Kiana Ochoa

Her approach is rooted in embodiment, guiding people back into relationship with themselves, with nature, and with the present moment. Whether through dynamic vinyasa, restorative practices, sound healing, or curated music journeys, Kiana creates spaces that invite both depth and play.

Known for her grounded presence and intuitive teaching style, she designs immersive containers for reflection, connection, and transformation. Blending philosophy, somatic awareness, and community, she supports others in navigating life's thresholds with greater trust, clarity, and aliveness.

At the heart of her work is an invitation: to live more deeply, love more fully, and nurture your nature.
